General Description

"Look before you jump and listen before you talk". That is exactly what makes Quintic's 2nd-Generation FM family deliver crystal clear sound quality over the FM broadcast channel. QClearScan? (QCS) is a hardware-based clear channel scan (CCS) technology that precisely evaluates the channel conditions and selects the best channel to transmit. No other product can match the accuracy and speed of QClearScan.

While further improving the high quality QN8000 FM transmitter, the Quintic 2nd-genration FM chips have grown to a family of chips including receiver, transceiver, and transmitter to serve various markets. RDS support is added to this family enabling the transmitting of associated information in the digital data channel. RDS is found in various applications such as carrying title and artist information for the song, as well as clock, weather, and TMC (traffic message channel) information.

The same concept has also been applied to speed up channel seeking for the FM receiver and to improve reliability. Hardware based channel seeking is used to achieve a full spectrum scan within just a few seconds that no other product can match. With advanced RF circuit design along with powerful signal processing, the receiver chip not only delivers top SNR performance (mono 73 dB and stereo 66 dB), but also greatly reduces system BoM.

The 2nd-Generation FM Family provides pin-compatible chips includes:

     QN8005 - FM Receiver with RDS
     QN8006 - FM Transceiver with RDS
     QN8007 - FM Transmitter with RDS

Versions without RDS are also available.
